Sullivan claims CRT seeks to awaken people to the fact that liberalism is a lie. He is wrong. CRT seeks to awaken people to the fact the liberalism has been infected from the start with hatred in the form of white supremacy. That liberal ideals while worthy of reverence, have not been implemented properly. That Liberalism that elevates the ideals, perspectives, and experiences of one group of people and seeks to erase all others is in fact illiberal.

Black people have suffered under the boot of white supremacy, but it is a problem for White people. Minorities can help them identify and define the problem, but they must root it out and destroy it. This means White progressives, liberals, moderates, independents, and conservatives must do something they have often neglected to do. They must check themselves.

It has been a nation that aspires toward a diverse and inclusive democratic melting pot where all people are treated equally, but it has also been an exclusive anti-democratic nation based on white supremacy.
